What Firmware Version is Installed on my Device?

Before downloading and installing an update on your device, you should check which version of the firmware you currently have installed on your BlueAnt device.

You can do this by going to your phone's Bluetooth menu and looking at the list of paired devices. The firmware version is displayed next to the name of your BlueAnt device in this list.

For example, if your phone's Bluetooth list displays BlueAnt Q1 V8.19 then you have version 8.19 of the Q1 firmware installed on your BlueAnt Q1.

Please note that when you complete a firmware update you must delete the old pairing information for your BlueAnt device before you re-pair your device with your phone after the update.

If you do not delete the old pairing information first then you may experience problems with the pairing process and you may also continue to see the old firmware version number displayed on your phone. By deleting and then re-pairing you can verify that the update has completed successfully.

The Firmware Update Failed and now My BlueAnt Device Does Not Work

If you experience a problem while updating the firmware on your BlueAnt device, and the updater does not complete successfully, you may find that your BlueAnt device becomes unresponsive. This is because your device is still in update mode.

To restore your device you need to run the update process again, which will restart the update and revert your device back to the normal operating mode.

Please note that although the light on your BlueAnt device will not come on when you hold down the "Vol +" button and connect it to your computer, your computer will still find the device and start the update process.

Once the update process has successfully completed, your BlueAnt device will be restored and updated. If you continue to experience problems updating the firmware on your device, then please contact our customer care team.

Q1 Speed Dials Not Working After a Firmware Update

If you have updated the firmware on your Q1 and are now having problems using the speed dial commands to call your phone speed dials, then this may be because you did not fully clear the old pairing information from your phone before re-pairing after the update.

On some phones, including the iPhone, it is very important that you delete the old pairing information and power the phone off and back on again before you re-pair it with your Q1.

If the speed dial commands are not working properly after a firmware update, do the following, in this order:

  1. Delete the pairing information on your phone.
  2. Power your phone off.
  3. Reset your Q1: use the Settings Menu command and then the Reset the Q1 command. This will put the Q1 back into pairing mode.
  4. Power your phone back on, go to the Bluetooth menu and search for devices, and pair it with the Q1.

The speed dial commands will now activate your phone speed dials once more.

If you update your Q1 again in the future, you must remember to delete the pairing from your phone, power your phone off, and then turn it back on again before you re-pair your Q1 with your phone after the update.

Tips for using the Q1 Firmware Updater

If you are having problems getting the Q1 updater software to work, please read the following tips:

  • Every time you use the updater software it connects to the BlueAnt website in order to check for the latest updates to the Q1. Make sure you are connected to the internet when you run the updater.
  • If you are having problems running the Q1 firmware updater and have checked your internet connection, then it may be that your firewall software is blocking the outward connection from the Q1 updater. Check your firewall settings and ensure that your firewall is configured such that the process BlueAnt_Q1_Updater.exe is allowed to connect to the internet. The BlueAnt Q1 updater software connects to the internet through port 80.
  • During the update process, you may be prompted with a warning that the software has not passed Windows Logo Testing. In order to update your Q1, you must click Continue Anyway on this warning message.
  • If the update fails for any reason while the software is being copied to the Q1, run the update again. The updater software will detect that a partial update has been applied to the Q1 and will restart the process.
